Running a restaurant has never been simple.
But right now, it’s harder than it has been in years.
At The Thai Bar & Restaurant, we’ve always believed that a place like ours should earn its position in the community. Not through gimmicks or trends, but by doing the basics properly, every single day.
Good food.
Warm service.
A place people come back to.
That’s what we’ve tried to build from the start.
For many of you reading this, you’ll know exactly what we mean. You’ve come in for a midweek meal. You’ve celebrated birthdays here. You’ve brought friends, family, or even just stopped by for something reliable after a long day.
And that support is what has kept us going.
But the reality behind the scenes has changed.
While weekends are still busy – and we’re genuinely grateful for that – midweek trade has become increasingly quiet. Tables that would once have been filled are now sitting empty. And over time, that gap starts to build.
At the same time, costs haven’t stood still.
Ingredients are more expensive.
Energy bills are higher.
Staffing and day-to-day overheads continue to rise.
None of this is unique to us. It’s happening across the industry. But when you combine quieter weekdays with rising costs, it creates a situation that becomes difficult to sustain.
This isn’t about expansion.
It’s not about opening new sites or pushing for growth.
It’s about stability.
It’s about keeping our team in work.
Keeping the lights on.
And making sure we’re still here in the months ahead.
We’ve always tried to stand on our own two feet. Asking for help like this doesn’t come naturally, and it’s not something we’ve ever done before.
But we also know that The Thai Bar & Restaurant means something to the people who visit us.
It’s where conversations happen.
Where routines are built.
Where people come to switch off for a couple of hours.
That’s worth protecting.
So we’ve made the decision to set up a GoFundMe.
Not as a long-term solution, but as a way to get through this difficult period and create a bit of breathing room while we work on strengthening our midweek trade and adapting to the current climate.
