A few weeks ago, we shared some difficult news.
After what had already been a challenging period for the restaurant, two of our chefs had to take time away from the kitchen due to illness. They are important members of our team, and while their health had to come first, it left us with a significant gap in the kitchen.
At the time, we reached out to our customers, friends, and wider community for help.
The response was incredible.
Today, we’re delighted to share some good news.
We’ve successfully recruited two new chefs and are now operating as normal once again.
First Things First, Thank You
Before anything else, we want to say thank you.
The support we’ve received over the past few months has been nothing short of remarkable.
Many of you shared our posts. Some of you recommended potential candidates. Others simply continued to visit us, order takeaway, and tell your friends about The Thai.
It all helped.
Running an independent restaurant can feel like a lonely experience at times. The past few months reminded us that we’re anything but alone.
The community around this restaurant is something we’re incredibly grateful for.
Welcome To The Team
Finding the right people is never easy.
Finding the right people in hospitality is even harder.
We weren’t simply looking for chefs who could cook.
We were looking for people who genuinely care about food. People who take pride in every plate that leaves the kitchen. People who understand that great hospitality comes from consistency, effort, and attention to detail.
Thankfully, we’ve found exactly that.
Our new chefs have already settled into the team and we’re excited about what they will bring to the restaurant moving forward.
Business As Usual
For our customers, the important thing is simple.
We’re fully staffed and operating as normal.
Whether you’re joining us for a meal in the restaurant, ordering takeaway, celebrating a special occasion, or simply popping in for your usual favourite, everything is running exactly as it should.
The kitchen is busy.
The dining room is busy.
And after everything we’ve been through recently, that’s a wonderful thing to be able to say.
Looking Ahead
The hospitality industry continues to face challenges. Anyone involved in restaurants will tell you that.
But for the first time in a while, we’re looking ahead with real optimism.
The past few months have reminded us why we do this.
For the people who walk through our doors.
For the conversations around the tables.
For the regulars who have become friends.
For the new customers who discover us for the first time.
And, of course, for the food.
We remain committed to serving authentic Thai food, providing a warm welcome, and continuing to build something that Shawlands can be proud of.
