We’ve Been Awarded a Travellers’ Choice Award

We’ve got some news we’re genuinely thrilled to share. The Thai has just been awarded a Travellers’ Choice Award from TripAdvisor, placing us in the top ten restaurants worldwide.

That’s right – out of thousands of restaurants across the globe, our little spot in Shawlands has made the list.

It’s an honour we’re still wrapping our heads around.

What the Award Means

The Travellers’ Choice Awards are given each year to restaurants, hotels, and experiences that consistently earn excellent reviews from guests. They’re based entirely on customer feedback – your ratings, your recommendations, and your words.

So, while it’s nice to win any award, this one feels different. It doesn’t come from a panel of critics or an anonymous judging board. It comes directly from you – the people who dine with us, order takeaways, and keep coming back.

To be recognised not just in Glasgow, not just in the UK, but worldwide… that’s something we never expected when we first opened our doors.

Why This Matters So Much

We’ve always kept our mission simple. Serve food that’s authentically Thai, made with care, and create a space where everyone feels welcome.

Getting this award tells us we’re on the right track. It tells us that the small details – the balance of heat and sweetness in a Panang curry, the way our team remember your usual order, or how quickly we try to sort out a problem if something goes wrong – actually matter.

It’s those details that travel. Guests write about them, recommend us to friends, and leave reviews that bring new visitors through our doors. And now, it’s those details that have put us in the global top ten percent.

For an independent restaurant in Glasgow’s Southside, that means everything.

A Thank You, to You

This isn’t just our award. It’s yours too.

Every review you’ve written on TripAdvisor, every rating you’ve given, every recommendation you’ve shared with a friend – those actions have built this recognition. Without them, without you, none of this would have happened.

Whether you’ve popped in for a quick weekday dinner, chosen us for a special date night, or ordered Pad Thai on a rainy evening at home, you’ve been part of this journey.

So, from all of us here: thank you. Truly.

Looking Back, Looking Forward

When we first opened The Thai, our goal wasn’t to win awards. It was simply to share food we love, in a way that felt authentic.

We didn’t imagine that years down the line, we’d be standing here, writing about a global accolade. But now that we’re here, it gives us even more reason to keep pushing, keep refining, and keep listening.

We’ll continue cooking with care. We’ll continue welcoming people the way we always have. And yes, we’ll keep experimenting and improving – because great food and experiences can always be even better.

Come Celebrate With Us

This award has put The Thai on the world stage, but at heart, we’re still the same neighbourhood restaurant in Shawlands. We’re proud of that.

So if you haven’t visited us in a while, now might be the perfect time to come back. And if you’ve never dined with us before, maybe this is the nudge you need to give us a try.

Order your favourites. Try something new. Raise a glass with us. Share in the celebration.

Because while awards are wonderful, nothing means more to us than seeing happy faces at the table.

Here’s to you. Here’s to Shawlands. And here’s to the next chapter of The Thai.
